Hiring in Singapore will pick up toward end
of 2012: Survey
SINGAPORE - Recruitment consultancy firm
Kelly Services said it expects hiring activity in Singapore to pick up in the
second half of the year.
Releasing its survey covering about 900
companies today, Kelly Services said the new hires will be supported by
Singapore's growing intra-regional trade.
Sectors that could see an increase in the
number of jobs include healthcare, hospitality, aeronautical, infocomms and
sales.
In contrast, the manufacturing sector is
expected to see a drop in recruitment activity, the survey found.
Kelly Services said that going forward,
employers are likely to opt for flexible work arrangements or redeploying staff
amid global economic uncertainties.
The ideal combination for companies is to
have 80 per cent of their workforce as permanent staff and the rest on a
flexible work scheme, said the consultancy.
However, the unemployment rate may drop if
employers expect any economic slowdown to be short-lived.
